Danish early 20th century naive forest landscape painting by Anders Gudmundsen-Holmgreen (1892-1967). A lovely composition with a muted yet vibrant palette and a dynamic stroke style. Oil on board, signed. Reframed in a beautiful solid maple frame.

Anders GUDMUNDSEN-HOLMGREEN was born 7/7/1892 in Copenhagen and died 7/31/1967 in Veddinge Strand. He studied at the Technical Drawing School in Copenhagen, a student of H. Grønvold; 1920 and 1924 at the Art Academy in Copenhagen. Study trips to Norway, Sweden, Germany (Munich) 1922-1923, Italy 1923, France 1928 and 1936, Italy and Greece 1958. Grants/awards Raben-Levetzau Prize 1916, 1918; Nathan 1947; Stat. Art Fund 1965-67. Numerous exhibitions followed, including at Charlottenborg Palace in 1915, 1917-1919. Today represented in Statens Museum for Kunst and in Københavns Museum.
