ARTIST BIO
Bengt Nordquist, born 20 March 1917 in Borås, died 2012, was a Swedish painter, draftsman and musician.
Prior to his art studies, Nordquist trained as a violinist and was periodically concert master at the Borås orchestra association. He began his art studies at Hovedskous painting school in Gothenburg in 1946-1948, which was followed up with a year of studies for Endre Nemes at Valand's painting school and a longer study trip to Paris. He settled in Rome in 1956 where, in addition to his own creations, he conducted museum studies.
Separately, he exhibited at Borås art gallery and in Ljungskile. Together with Anna Casparsson he exhibited at Galleri Brinken in Stockholm in 1954 and together with John Hedman and Knut Hallström in 1958. He participated in some of the Borås artists' club exhibitions in Borås and at Portalhallen in Gothenburg.
Nordquist began as a Gothenburg colorist with landscape painting and still life, but switched around 1952 to creating geometric and semi-abstract motifs that are connected to surrealism, and his works often have a symbolic content. Nordquist is represented at Borås City Hall.Shipping for this item to U.K. mainland is £20. Delivery time is 3-5 working days.
