Antique French Distressed Louis Philippe Mirror

Fabulous, shabby and distressed French Louis Philippe aged white mirror. Layers and layers of old paint and weathering have created a wonderful effect, with striking hints of gold leaf, as well as green and black. A heavily foxed and worn mercury glass plate completes the effect. France, 19th century.

CONDITION NOTE:
Mirror has been kept in as-found, distressed condition, with losses allover to paint and frame and heavy foxing and wear to mirror plate. This is what makes it wonderful. Some woodworm holes are evident on the back - the mirror has been given a thorough woodworm treatment as a precaution. Later ply backing boards have been added.
