  • An original mid-century still-life painting by Swedish artist Hjalmar Ekberg (1924-1980). A wonderful cubist work featuring a jug and fruit, in a square format. Oil on wooden board, signed and dated '59. There is another composition on the reverse side. Presented in its vintage wooden frame.

    CONDITION NOTE:
    Painting in good vintage condition, commensurate with age and use. There are uneven edges and a bit of loss to wood panel when viewed on the reverse side, not visible from front. Some wear to frame commensurate with age and use. Please see all photos for details.

    ARTIST BIO
    Hjalmar Wilhelm Ekberg, born 1924 in Asarum, died 1980 in Nybro, was a Swedish sculptor and painter. He worked at ABU (today ABU-Garcia ) in Blekinge before becoming a full-time artist.

    Ekberg has made a bronze relief depicting the history of fishing, which is located in the ABU factory in Svängsta. He was self-taught. He was a cultural scholar in Nybro Municipality in 1973.
