    ARTIST BIO
Ernst Olle Blomberg, born January 6, 1909 in Umeå, died March 10, 1996 in Lycksele, was a Swedish artist. His art consists of still lifes, portraits and landscape paintings in oil and pastel.

Blomberg worked as a painting apprentice 1927–1929 and in Stockholm 1930–1932 and in Oslo 1939. He studied art with Yngve Lundström and with conservator Gustaf Jaensson at the National Museum. In an exhibition context, he made his debut in 1934 in Umeå and subsequently had several exhibitions, above all in northern Sweden. Together with Märtha Bolin-Clason and Erik Kjellman, he exhibited at Galleri Brinken in Stockholm.

Olle Blomberg's active artistic career spanned between 1930 and 1990 and he was incredibly productive throughout his career. Olle Blomberg's main motifs were northern landscapes with rivers, rapids, power plants and mountains. Notable among his public works is a foundation wall in Hällnäs sanatorium from 1936, depicting rafting in the Vindelälven. He also made decorations in some churches as well as decorations for Hotell Lapland in Lycksele.

After Olle Blomberg's death, his home, Tuggengården, was handed over as a gift to Lycksele municipality. In the house, which is located in the village of Tuggensele by the Umeälven river two kilometers south of Lycksele, there is his studio and more than 90 of his paintings.
