Mid-Century Still Life with Flowers Painting by Walfrid Jönsson

A lovely mid-century still life composition by Swedish artist Walfrid "Wale" Jönsson (1902-1980). A bright blue vase filled with soft pink flowers and green foliage features in the foreground. It is sitting by a window looking though which we can see the sky and nearby rooftops of houses, giving a lovely perspective. The artist's composition and style gives this lovely painting a feel that is somehow at once old world and modernist. Oil on board, signed. Presented in a new wooden frame.

Walfrid Jönsson, born Valfrid Jönsson on March 20, 1902 in Tofta parish, Malmöhus county, died on April 17, 1980 in Landskrona, was a Swedish painter, composer, lyricist and cartoonist. He studied art in Landskrona, Amsterdam and in southern Europe. His art consists of figure paintings, landscapes and still lifes. As a decorative painter, he has decorated some private houses, as well as made illustrations for books, newspapers and for his own poems. He was also active under the pseudonym Walfrid Wale. Walfrid Jönsson is buried at Landskrona cemetery.
