Portrait of a Woman by Pär Lindblad

Titled 'Model Against Red Background', this work is by Swedish modernist artist Pär Lindblad (1907-1981). It is a bold and angular expressionistic portrait of a female figure in black against an intense red backdrop. Acrylic on paper, on board. Signed and dated '77' on front. Signed and titled on verso. Professionally framed behind anti-reflective art glass with a hand-finished ebonised wooden frame.

CONDITION NOTE:
Vintage painting with some signs of age and use. Artist's signature and date on front is somewhat faint. This may be due to the artist's application of the medium used, or could have faded slightly with time. There are some areas of creasing to the paper. This work is now preserved and protected behind art glass. Please see all photos for details.

ARTIST BIO
Pär Holger Lindblad, born May 5, 1907 in Arbrå, Hälsingland, died July 14, 1981 in Gävle Staffans parish, Gävle, was a Swedish painter and sculptor. He was very productive as an artist and had about 30 of his own exhibitions and participated in collective exhibitions.

Pär Lindblad's sculptures appear as public decoration in Gävle - such as Solöga at Stigslundsskolan, Dog and cat in Sätra, Three bucks in Eriksbergsparken and Skogsblomma, Karlavagnen and Anhalten in Andersberg.

Pär Lindblad's art is represented at the National Museum and the Modern Museum in Stockholm, the County Museum Gävleborg and at the museums of Örebro County Museum, Västerås Art Museum, Östersund, and others.
