    ARTIST BIO
    Tor Lars Henrik Herder was born on July 17, 1923 in Barkåkra parish, Kristianstad county, and died in 1976. He was a Swedish painter and cartoonist. Herder studied with Hjalmar Eldh and Nils Wedel at the Slöjdföreningens school in Gothenburg 1941-1944 and at Eric Clemmensen's painting school in Copenhagen 1945-1948 as well as during study trips to Paris, Germany and Poland. He settled permanently in Helsingborg in 1945, and exhibited there in 1952. He participated in the collective exhibition Kullakonst and with Helsingborg's art association and with the artist group Skånsk treklöver. His art consists of portraits, figure motifs, landscapes and abstract motifs in lively colours. Herder is represented at the Modern Museum and Trelleborg Museum. A memorial exhibition of his art was shown at Sofiero Castle in 2008.
