    ARTIST BIO
    Erik Bengt Torgny Delefors, born March 17, 1917 in Gesäters parish, died April 25, 1996, was a Swedish artist.

    Delefors studied at Konstgillet's painting school in Borås 1943-1947, Valand's art school 1948 and for André Lhote in Paris 1949-1953, Académie de la Grand Chaumière in Paris 1950, Enamel technology at Gustavsberg's factories 1967. Together with Georg Andersson he exhibited at Borås art gallery in 1950 and later that year he exhibited together with Nini Landgren and Stig Delang in Vänersborg, together with Greta Ehrnberg at Lorensberg's art salon in 1963 and collective exhibitions at Liljevalch's art gallery.

    He had his first solo exhibition in 1951 at Lilla Galleriet in Stockholm. He was awarded the French State's Cultural Scholarship in 1952, the City of Gothenburg's Cultural Scholarship in 1975, and the State Employment Scholarship in 1976 and 1980. His art consists of expressive figure painting, intense still lifes and interiors.

    Delefors is represented at the Modern Museum, the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the Borås Museum of Art, the Norwegian Arts Council and in several municipalities and county councils.
