Modernist 'Portrait of a Woman' by Roy Lindqvist

A wonderful, eccentric modernist portrait of a female figure by Swedish artist Roy Lindqvist (1930–1987). Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1967 on verso. Presented in its lovely original wooden frame.

ARTIST BIO
Roy Nils Göte Lindqvist, born August 1, 1930 in Landskrona, died in January 1987 in Malmö, was a Swedish painter. He was the son of the foreman Sture August Lindqvist and Jenny Linnéa Morén and from 1955 married to the fashion designer Ulla Anita Ottoson.

Lindqvist studied art with Vilhelm Bjerke-Petersen in Stockholm 1949-1950 and at the Scanian School of Painting in Malmö 1950 and at the Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen 1953-1955 and during study trips to Spain, Italy and Tunisia. Together with Marika Jovinge and Roy Evertsen, he exhibited at Folkets hus in Landskrona in 1955. He participated in collective exhibitions with the Malmö Art Association. He was awarded the Swedish-Danish Cultural Foundation's scholarship and the City of Malmö's cultural scholarship. His art consists of still lifes, portraits, figures and landscapes. Lindqvist is represented at the Moderna museum, Aarhus Kunstmuseum and Malmö museum. Lindqvist is buried in the memorial grove at Limhamn cemetery.
